Religious Exploration Program for Children

2013 - 2014 Schedule

PURPOSE OF THE RELIGIOUS EXPLORATION (RE) PROGRAM FOR KIDS

This program is for children ages 6-12 (?). It is designed to make them aware, in an age-appropriate way, of some basic spiritual principles and to encourage them to think for themselves about these matters and to use their personal life experiences and their heart as they attempt to apply these principles in their lives.

This exploration is focused on the children’s version of the seven Unitarian Universalist principles:

Every single person is important  We treat one another with respect We spend our whole lives learning how to be the best people we can be. Together we learn about the world and what is true. Everyone has the right to use their voice and be heard. Together we work to create a world that is peaceful and fair for everyone We respect our earth and all living things.

FORMAT

This program occurs in the context of a loving and supportive Fellowship community. Children begin by gathering in the main service with the adults to share in song. They then listen to a brief story just for them. We then go to our classroom where we focus on one of the Unitarian principles. The kids are engaged by stories, art projects, skits, singing, games, and the use of a felt board.

CALLING ALL KIDS!!!

We would love to have more children to enrich this educational experience! Those of you who know potentially interested families, please pass the word along that we've got a great children's program planned for 2013-2014. Childcare is available for younger children.
